Installing Atlas, and what to do when something doesn't show

Atlas for FACEIT installs from the Chrome Web Store in a few seconds and needs no account. This page covers the setup worth doing once, and the handful of situations that explain almost every “Atlas isn't showing anything” report we get.

Add to Chrome — free Free · no account · Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera

Install and first run

  • Open the Atlas for FACEIT page on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. It works in Chrome and in the Chromium browsers that install from the same store: Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Opera GX. There is no Firefox version.
  • Reload any FACEIT tab you already had open. Atlas re-injects itself into open tabs after an install or update, but a plain reload (F5) is the only way to be sure the page has the current version of everything.
  • Click the Atlas icon in the toolbar to open the popup, and Options from there. The version you have is shown at the top of the options page.
  • Optionally, type your FACEIT nickname in the options. Atlas then always knows which team is yours, which is what the per-team recommendations and your own history need.

Permissions, and why each one exists

  • faceit.com — where the stats, the lobby and the match room live. Atlas runs its main scripts only there.
  • The Atlas backend (a Cloudflare Worker run by the developer) — the only server Atlas talks to. It forwards requests to FACEIT's official Data API so the API key never ships inside the extension.
  • Steam Community profile pages — for the FACEIT-on-Steam card, and nothing else on Steam.
  • Storage — your settings, notes, tags and history, kept in your browser.
  • Clipboard write — the copy buttons.
  • Scripting — used once, right after an install or update, to add Atlas to FACEIT tabs that were already open. No remote code.

Stats not showing? Check these first

  • The tab is older than the extension. After Chrome updates Atlas in the background, a FACEIT tab that was already open can keep running the old copy. Reload the tab.
  • Atlas says “Could not connect to the extension backend” or “Data unavailable”. The Atlas backend or FACEIT's API didn't answer. Wait a minute and reload: FACEIT's API has strict rate limits, and a burst of requests (a full room of ten players, several tabs) can hit them briefly. Atlas caches what it already fetched, so the numbers come back on their own.
  • A panel says “Set the nickname…”. That feature needs to know which player is you. Type your FACEIT nickname in the options.
  • You're in Opera GX and came back from a match. Opera GX pauses background tabs while a game is running. Atlas catches up when the tab is active again; if a panel still looks stale, reload the tab.
  • Another FACEIT extension is also changing the page. Two extensions rewriting the same match room can overlap or hide each other's panels. Turn the other one off for a match to check which one is drawing what, then keep the setup you prefer.
  • FACEIT changed its page. FACEIT redesigns parts of its site now and then, and a panel can disappear until Atlas is updated for it. Chrome installs Atlas updates automatically; the changelog shows what each version fixed.

Updating, switching off and uninstalling

  • Chrome updates extensions on its own. To force a check, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode and click Update.
  • Every panel and automation has its own switch in the options; the automations are all off until you turn them on.
  • To remove Atlas, open chrome://extensions and click Remove. Everything it stored in your browser goes with it.

What Atlas is, so there are no surprises

Atlas is a browser extension: it reads and adds to FACEIT's web pages and uses FACEIT's official public API. It never runs inside Counter-Strike 2, doesn't read game files and doesn't interact with the FACEIT anti-cheat client. It is an independent project, not made or approved by FACEIT. Use the bug report if you hit something this page doesn't cover — every report is read.

How to use it

  1. Add Atlas for FACEIT from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Reload the FACEIT tabs you already had open.
  3. Open the options from the Atlas popup, set your FACEIT nickname, and join a match.

Questions

Do I need a FACEIT or Atlas account?

No. Atlas needs no login of any kind. Setting your FACEIT nickname in the options is optional and only tells Atlas which player is you.

Does Atlas slow FACEIT down?

It adds a few requests to the Atlas backend per match room and caches the answers, so revisiting a room or a profile is instant. The custom background is stored locally, with no extra downloads.

Where do I send a bug report?

Use the contact page: it opens an email with a short template that asks for the Atlas version, your browser and what happened.
